Backyard landscaping update

In the right, lower corner you can see the new patio I built…the little white circles are sand spots, they should go away soon :) You can see my new rhizomous tall fescue grass in the upper right (also known as combat extreme grass!). there are now little stepping stones between the concrete part that I already did (I need to find some way to spruce that up) and to the little sitting nook in the corner.

All in all, everything is coming along. I’ll post more pictures once everything is in full bloom; I can’t wait to see it myself, should be great!!! So, it’s still just the beginning, but progressing :)

The Grill Nook

Here’s a closer shot of what the walkmaker mold creates. I used mortar mix to fill in the tiles…but next time, I think I’ll use sand. The mortar mix kind of washes out the pattern.

The patio… in it’s infancy.

Here’s the very beginning of my patio. I’ve been building it with concrete using a little tool called the Creter and one of the walkmaker molds by Quickrete. What you are looking at here is the “grill nook.” I plan to add a large section that is roughly 6′ x 12′…should be large enough to sit on and enjoy :)

Backyard… Stage 1 (of many)

It may not look like much now (since it is the middle of winter…even though it’s beautiful and sunny!), but, here’s the beginning stages of my yard work/landscaping project.

I’ve started to plant tall fescue grass so that the yard isn’t a mud-hole anymore and I’m taking better care of the trees. This is our little sitting area; there are two red rum honeysuckle trees that will grow about 12′ against the back fence behind the bench (Tiff, that’s the bench you gave us) and there are yellow forsynthias and russian honeysuckles that will grow along the other fence borders that you can’t see…the next photos show the beginnings of our patio.
