TMI Chapel and Ayres Hall

This is the TMI chapel. On the right, is part of the building that I work in, Ayres Hall. You can see Camp Bullis in the background (the hill) and, at least I think, you can see how peaceful and beautiful the campus is.

I uploaded a few more of my favorite TMI campus photos on my flickr page; I’ll take a few more pictures when everything on campus starts to bloom!

TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas

I just finished my first full week of work at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas and am moving full speed ahead!  I can’t say enough how much I love my new job and all of the people I work with.  I am the Public Relations and Financial Aid Assistant.

We had an exciting week last week…on Monday, a small bat decided to make his way into the library (where my office is located) and flew around for hours on end.  Finally, he made one last attempt to escape and made a beeline for the window, only to  thunk his head on the glass and knock himself out for a while.  Security came up later with pellet guns and ammo to shoot the little guy… but, after a full round of Security Vs. The Bat, the bat won.  It wasn’t until the second day when the bat decided to sleep on the side of one of the sofa chairs when one of our security staff could scoop up the bat in his jacket and get him out of the building.  Not everyone gets to share a bat story on her first day of work :)

Aside from the bat, the rest of the week was uneventful (at least in the animal department).  I’ve been training on financial aid, setting meetings to collect rate cards, managing the purchase orders, preparing for a new ad campaign, and settling into my new office (which has a beautiful window).  TMI takes great care of its employees, they have coffee all day for us, lunch with the students, and cookies after daily chapel :)

TMI is filled with great students, faculty and staff.  I couldn’t be happier.

So that’s the news on my new job!  I’ll post some pictures once I get around to taking a few!

My New Job

Ok, so here’s my big secret…  On Monday, I start my new job in the PR department of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas.  For those of you who don’t know or have never heard of TMI, it is a preparatory school for kids in grades 6-12.  They were formerly knows as Texas Military Institute.  General Douglas MacArthur is one of the distinguished cadet alumni (graduated from TMI before attending West Point).

I’ll be working in the public relations department doing a variety of things I love (web traffic analytics, web design, print design, and (for any military folks out there) “all other duties as assigned”).  TMI is located just outside of Camp Bullis (it is actually the third location in the history of TMI).  It is also only 15 minutes from where we live; great commute!

So there it is, my new job… back to the old grindstone!  I’m very excited to be leaving my home office and going back to a real work environment.  TMI is actually in the middle of spring break right now, so I’m taking this week to relax and prepare!

No more Lynn-Douglas

So, as most everyone knows by now, I am no longer going to be running Lynn-Douglas Media (my little graphic design company) as a full-time business any longer.  I’m in the middle of a job search and, hopefully, just about to accept an official offer.  You’ll hear more about it later…

Aaron is in his pain management fellowship at University of TX Health Sciences Center and will be finished at the end of this year.  Other than that, we still live in San Antonio with our two ferrets and a dog named Tessa.
